Admission Notice for First Distance Learning Master’s Degree leading to Master of Science Total Quality Management
Duration: Two years
Eligibility: Graduates of any discipline

Established on the occasion of the World Standards Day on 14 December 2001, the Quality Institute of India (QII), sponsored by the World Institution Building Programme (WIBP) is a constituent unit of Sikkim Manipal University, Gangtok. Besides distance learning programme, an evening course has also been planned at New Delhi Extension Campus of the University for working executives.
The following is the Message of the ISO Acting Secretary General, Dr. Christian J. Favre: “On behalf of the Worldwide ISO family, which now comprises the national standards institutes of 143 countries, I congratulate the World institution Building Programme on its wise initiative of launching a Master of Science Degree in Quality Methodology and systems, in collaboration with the International Quality Institute and the Quality Institute of India. According to The ISO Survey, 510,000 quality management systems based on ISO 9000 were being implemented in 161 countries at the end of 2001, providing concrete evidence of their worldwide impact. The implementation of ISO 9000-based quality management systems leads to the increased efficiency and effectiveness of both business and public sector organisations and provides a common international language for suppliers of products and services and their customers and users, the world over. These factors can be particularly important in improving the productivity and competitiveness of firms in developing countries and in helping them to establish themselves on export markets, as well as in assisting administrations to provide better value to the general public. Therefore, the WIBP quality initiative deserves every success in seeking to bring the benefits of quality management systems within the reach of the greatest number, thus contributing to world prosperity and peaceful development”.
The Quality Institute of India (QII) has organized the World Quality Congress on 29th and 30th December 2002 in the auditorium of India International Centre, New Delhi.
